Master the Essentials of Modern Technology with the CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71) Certification

The CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71) is the newly reimagined standard for foundational technology literacy, replacing the retired IT Fundamentals (ITF+). This 2025 updated course, powered by Skillsoft, is meticulously designed to bridge the digital divide, providing a comprehensive "spectrum of tech knowledge" that goes far beyond basic terminology. Unlike its predecessor, Tech+ emphasizes hands-on, practical skills across six critical domains—from troubleshooting complex hardware issues to navigating the nuances of Artificial Intelligence and Cloud infrastructure. Whether you are launching a career in IT or simply need a robust technical foundation for a tech-adjacent role, this course empowers you with the confidence to manage, secure, and troubleshoot the tools that drive the modern digital economy.

Who is this for?

  • Aspiring IT Professionals: Individuals seeking a structured, hands-on on-ramp into helpdesk, field tech, or junior support roles.
  • Career Changers: Professionals from non-technical fields who want to validate their digital literacy for a technology-driven workplace.
  • Students: High school or college learners looking to build a "job-ready" foundation before pursuing advanced certifications like A+.
  • Tech-Adjacent Workers: Sales, marketing, or management professionals who interact daily with technical teams and systems.
  • Lifelong Learners: Anyone wanting to future-proof their skills with knowledge of AI, IoT, and cybersecurity best practices.

Ready for roles like

  • Junior IT Support Technician: Providing first-line assistance for hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Technical Sales Associate: Effectively communicating technical benefits and infrastructure requirements to clients.
  • Business Analyst (Tech-Focused): Bridging the gap between business needs and technical implementation.
  • Helpdesk Tier I: Identifying, documenting, and resolving basic network, application, and security issues.
  • Entry-Level Field Technician: Configuring peripherals, mobile devices, and small-office wireless networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+)?
CompTIA ITF+ (FC0-U61) was officially retired in 2025. It has been replaced by CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71), which provides a more modern and practical curriculum, including new topics like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud virtualization, and more hands-on troubleshooting scenarios.
Is the Tech+ certification "Good for Life"?
Yes. Like its predecessor, the CompTIA Tech+ certification is a lifetime credential. Once you pass the FC0-U71 exam, you do not need to renew it or earn Continuing Education (CE) units to keep the certification active.
How difficult is the FC0-U71 exam?
The exam consists of a maximum of 70 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. The passing score is 650 on a scale of 100-900. While designed for beginners, it requires a solid understanding of both conceptual and practical IT tasks, making it a more rigorous entry-level test than the old ITF+.
Does this course include technical labs?
Absolutely. This DiviTrain course features Skillsoft-powered labs and simulations that allow you to practice real-world tasks such as configuring a wireless network, installing drivers, managing file permissions, and performing basic troubleshooting in a risk-free environment.
